Ce este TLD

TLD (Top Level Domain) este extensia sau setul de caractere aflat la sfârşitul adresei oricărui site web.

Tipuri de TLD

– gTLD (generic Top Level Domain) este un TLD generic (.com, .mobi, .info etc).
– ccTLD (country code Top Level Domain) este un TLD specific ţărilor (.uk, .cn, .ro etc).

1985 – Doar 6 domenii gTLD

În anul 1985 existau doar 6 domenii de nivel superior: .com, .edu, .gov, .net, .org şi .mil.

Ulterior, pe parcurs, au mai apărut câteva ajungând până la 23 domenii gTLD.

Azi – Peste 1000 de domenii noi gTLD

Noua explozie de domenii va aduce schimbări incredibile în tot ce ţine de internet!

Pe lângă vechile gTLD şi domeniile ccTLD specifice ţărilor, alte peste 1000 de domenii noi gTLD au devenit disponibile treptat. Ordinea a fost stabilită de ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) în baza unui sistem ce ţine cont de anumiţi factori (numărul de prioritate, numărul de obiecţii şi contestaţii etc).

În faţa noilor modificări va trebui să ne adaptăm toţi: utilizatorii pe de-o parte, proprietarii de site-uri de cealaltă parte, dar şi cele aflate la mijloc adică motoarele de căutare pentru că şi acestea vor trebui să conceapă noi sisteme de categorisire a site-urilor.
